Define the integration path

This guide proposes an implementation workflow. The reviewed catalog does not provide a native connector with a universal AutoCAD or SketchUp key. For the first pilot, prepare an authorized export in the source software. Automating file access, exports or systems requires separately defining the interface, credentials and permissions of the chosen solution.

Extract and check at the source

AutoCAD Data Extraction can select object properties and block attributes and export them to an external file. Record the selection used. SketchUp Generate Report lets you choose objects, attributes, grouping and units; check the preview before downloading CSV. Account for grouping and rounding when comparing results.

Pilot data contract

As a proposed configuration, record project, source file, revision, element identifier, description, quantity, unit and extraction date in each row. Preserve the original export. Define how to handle missing values and repeated identifiers before asking an agent to compare data.

Do not mix revisions in one count. Use text for identifiers that may contain letters or leading zeros. Similar descriptions alone do not establish that two elements are identical.

Validate before automating

  1. Choose one discipline and two authorized revisions of the same set.
  2. Prepare a reference comparison checked by a responsible reviewer.
  3. Test added, removed, changed and unitless items, as well as duplicates.
  4. Require output to identify source, revision and discrepancies without guessing missing data.
  5. Measure preparation, review, rework time and execution cost. Record errors that prevent approval.

Bring results into the process

Use task fields to record project and revision and keep technical decisions with the responsible reviewer. Output can prepare an estimating or procurement list, but writing to another system must be a separately configured and validated step.
